The Dimensions of a Personal SWOT Analysis
If you’re having difficulty knowing where to start or just want to ensure you include as much as possible for the most accurate and specific analysis, here are factors you can include in your personal SWOT analysis:
Health:
- Approach to stress: How do you approach stress? Can you actually manage stress successfully or do you only think you can manage it successfully? What do others say about how you manage stress?
- Physical Health: Do you look after your body by eating correctly and getting enough sleep?
- Mental Health: Do you do activities that allow your brain to recharge? Do you talk to someone about aspects of your life you find challenging?
- Exercise: Do you do enough physical exercise so ensure your body’s overall health?
Personality:
- Motivation: What motivates you? Are you typically a motivated or demotivated person? What demotivates you?
- Self Confidence: Are you confident in yourself? What causes you to feel less confident in yourself and your abilities?
- Honesty: Are you honest with yourself and others? Do others consider you honest?
- Trustworthiness: Do other consider you trustworthy?
- Personal Discipline: Are you disciplined with yourself? If you set a personal goal do you stick to it?
- Curiosity: Do you enjoy learning or solving problems? Does your curiosity help you in life or does it get you into trouble?
- Hobbies: Do you do activities that you enjoy or are passionate about? Can the lessons and skills you’ve learnt doing your hobbies give you a competitive advantage?
- Spirituality: Do you belong to a spiritual community? Does your spirituality make a positive impact on your wellbeing?
- Ethics: Do your ethics put you in good standing with others? Does how you view ethics impact how others interact with you?
Dealing with People:
- What kind of friend are you? Do you value friendship? Are you generous with your time? Do you have a few quality friends or a lot of casual friends?
- Approach to communicating and sharing ideas: Are you good at communicating with others and sharing your ideas? Are you good at listening to the ideas and thoughts of others?
- Collaborating with others: Do you work well with others? Do your colleagues feel you collaborate well?
- Are you an introvert or an extrovert? What are the positives and negatives? How do you interact with others?
- Meeting new people: Are you good at meeting new people? Are you good at networking?
- What quality of people do you spend time with? Do you spend your time with people you can learn from? Do you prefer to spend time with people who are easy to get along with?
- Assisting others: Do you go out of your way to assist others? Do you offer help when you can? Do you prefer to stay out of other people’s problems?
Career:
- Consistency: Do you perform consistently at work? Does your team feel you perform consistently?
- Skill sets: Do you have a skill set that sets you apart from others? Does your skill set give you a competitive advantage or does it need more attention?
- Problem solving: Are you solutions orientated, or problems orientated? Are you good at coming up with ways to solve one-time or ongoing problems?
- Qualifications: Do you have a solid education or experience for your position? Should you invest more time in upskilling yourself? Do you feel qualified for the future position you may apply for?
- Time management: Are you good at managing your time? Do you procrastinate? Are you sometimes stressed by how you manage time?
- Good work habits: Do you practice good work habits during office hours? Does your team think you practice good work habits while at work?
Self-Development:
- Money management: Are you good at managing your money? Do others think you’re good at managing your money?
- Learning: Do you enjoy learning new things? Do you set aside time to read or watch TedTalk’s to upskill yourself with knowledge?
- Lifestyle management: Are you good at managing yourself and your life? Do others think you’re good at managing yourself and your life?
- Become more proactive: Are you a proactive or reactive person? Do you go after your goals? Do your friends and family think you are proactive?
