In the same year Suglo graduated from high school, she launched the Eco-Shoes project and started her studies in Health Science Education. A year later, the demand had risen so much that she was producing 1500 pairs.
The aim of the Eco-Shoes Project is to assist artisans with disabilities to create Afro-themed shoes and accessories using discarded tyres and recycled cloth. By 2015, handbags were added to the project’s offering. Suglo aims to produce 1000 to 1500 handbags annually in addition to the shoes. The Eco-Shoes Project positioned her as the second runner up for a 2015 Anzisha Prize.
