Charl started his career in 1980 when he launched his company, The Specialists. Over a period of 13 years, it grew to 26 franchises and became one of the largest South African owned service franchises.

In 1996 he founded The Success Academy, a niche property development and management company situated in Highveld Technopark, Centurion, Pretoria, South Africa.

Charl’s approach to property development goes beyond simply making space for tenants to occupy. He believes that in order to prosper and grow, businesses need a working environment that provides professionally run infrastructure, utilities and back-up. This ensures that his tenants can operate unhindered by external circumstances. His relationship with his tenants is one of a partnership whereby they can concentrate on driving their businesses, while he ensures that their office space runs flawlessly.

Viewed as a success campus, the business community within the office parks share a wealth of knowledge and experience, presenting opportunities for mentorship and advice via The Success Academy’s private online community.

The developments consist of prime office space at Cambridge and Berkley Office Parks and the developing Oxford Office Park totalling 76 000 m² - equivalent to eight hectares under roof.
