Where to find Government tenders?
There are a number of routes that you can take to find information on tenders. Tender notices published in newspapers and trade magazines.
Government tender contacts:
Major tenders are published weekly in the Government Tender Bulletin. Visit www.info.gov.za/documents/tenders or contact the Government Printer for a copy (Private Bag X85, Pretoria, 0001). Other provincial tenders are publicised in various provincial gazettes. Tenders are also usually widely publicised in the press so keep your eye on the newspapers
Parastatals:
These can be approached for information on their procurement policy and how they choose suppliers and award tenders. Many parastatals will have this information posted on their websites.
Municipality tenders:
Contact your local municipality.
Miscellaneous:
There are a number of companies that collect tender information for databases that you can subscribe to on a monthly basis for a fee, saving you time and effort. TradeWorld is one such enterprise (www.tradeworld.co.za).
