Unheard of Scientist Spencer Silver was attempting to create a super strong adhesive for company 3M in 1968. Instead he accidentally created the exact opposite that would peel off any surface. Binned as useless, another scientist, Art Fry, realised the bit of paper made for great bookmarks without leaving a sticky residue.
The Post-it is one of the least expensive inventions that’s made the company millions, and has evolved into 4 000 different products.
