The store opened at the Sasol service station on Pickering Street, and is a JV with Joe Thompson, who is the Sasol franchisee.
Burger King first arrived in South Africa three years ago, and currently boasts a presence in six provinces. Apart from Port Elizabeth, it currently operates in the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Mpumalanga.
“We’re excited to continue growing the brand throughout South Africa. We know that Port Elizabeth locals have been longing to sink their teeth into the famous 100% pure beef flame-grilled Whopper for some time, and we are sure they will enjoy it as much as the rest of the country. By expanding to yet another province, it allows us to continue growing our footprint and serve fresh, quality food full of flavour to more South Africans,” said Alan Keet, CEO of Grand Foods, master franchise licensee for Burger King locally.
