1. Work and travel as a social media marketer
With just a laptop and an Internet connection you can help businesses and individuals manage their brands through social media – from anywhere in the world. Influencers and global corporations alike have hopped onto the social media train, but often need specialists in the field to handle their accounts on various platforms.
“Nearly all major brands have a social media presence,” says travel blogger Eric Michelson. “They need someone to build, refine, analyse and manage that presence.”
You can make money as a social media marketer while you work and travel, even if you’re travelling in countries with a lower cost-of-living. If you have the right skills and experience, finding your first client – whether online or in the country you’re visiting – shouldn’t be too difficult.
Your job as a social media marketer will involve creating and maintaining a brand’s public face via various platforms, so that their consumers become more interested in and engage with that brand via social media.
Your daily to-do list will include: Scheduling social media posts, running competitions on social platforms and responding to users’ comments, complaints and queries on the brand’s social networks.
“In this regard, sometimes the social media marketer can double as a community manager by ensuring the brand’s community stays happy,” says Michelson.
“No one can deny the ubiquity of social media in today’s business environment. That’s why social media marketers are a necessary and treasured part of any brand’s core identity.”
