STEP 3. Registering a DBA in Texas
When do you need a DBA in Texas?
A DBA, or ‘Doing Business As’ is essentially your business’s, trade or assumed name and is necessary for you to conduct business under a name other than your own. In the state of Texas, LLCs, limited and limited liability partnerships and corporations must file a DBA with the Secretary State.
If you will be operating a sole proprietorship or a general partnership, you don’t need to file with the Secretary of State, however you will need to file a DBA with the county clerk offices.
