By 2015, one fifth of African Internet traffic will be carried by cellular networks. The continent is at a pivotal point in African Internet infrastructure development, as the Internet will play a critical role in Africa’s technological and economic development.
The AfriNIC-15, the African Network Information Centre’s (AfriNIC) 15th bi-annual meeting, kicked off on the 19th of November in Cameroon and runs through to the 25th of November 2011. The event hosts the fifth meeting of the AfriNIC Government Working Group (AfGWG), with the intention of strengthening the collaboration between AfriNIC, African Governments and regulators on building an African infrastructure for the future.
This will include tutorials, training, and presentations on key Internet, while playing host to the leading Internet players from across the region. The broad technical community are encouraged to attend the meeting and take part in vibrant policy discussions, including the distribution policies for Internet number resources.
