Between 17 and 21 November, the first Start-up Bus will cross African soil. 40 Entrepreneurs – 15 of them African and the remainder international – were chosen to participate in the journey, accompanied by 10 mentors.
The bus will travel from Harare to Cape Town, stopping off in Johannesburg along the way. The meetings with successful entrepreneurs and mentors off the bus and the teamwork on the road will help the Start-up Bus participants to develop their own innovative start-up ideas.
En route the Buspreneurs will meet local business representatives and entrepreneurs, participate in workshops and pitching competitions, all aimed at preparing them for the finale. Ultimately they will pitch in front of a jury at the final event in Cape Town.
Richard Branson will attend the final pitch of the Start-up Bus Africa entrepreneurs via Google Hangouts.
The overall goal of Start-up Bus Africa is to connect creative minds and help the selected entrepreneurs’ visions in the fields of healthcare, mobile and energy become reality.
