Entrepreneur and software engineer Vusi Sindane has published a crowd-sourcing platform for designers, dezynspot.com. The idea is that anyone who requires some design work to be done can start a design contest. And unemployed or freelance designers can find work through one central gateway.
Once the contest is published, all designers in the database are invited to submit a design to which the client can provide feedback to guide the design process.
After the contest’s closing date, the client chooses the best design and all intellectual property is transferred from the designer. Who is then paid for his or her work.
“Crowd-sourcing enables business and professionals to engage on a project-by-project basis rather than through employment,” says Sindane. “This gives designers the freedom to do what they really want and companies the ability focus more on deliverables and less on employment costs.”
