Two social entrepreneurs who are working to create green leaders have scooped top honours at the Greening the Future Awards.
Catherine Constantinides and Ella Bella received the Sudley Adams Memorial Award at the 10th annual awards ceremony, held in Johannesburg. The dynamic duo are trying to cultivate green leaders for the next generation by changing the mindsets of the youth to create leaders for the future who are eco-conscious and aware of how their consumer habits and lifestyles impact on the environment.
Generation Earth was founded in 2011 to create a green network with the youth, for the youth, by the youth. Ella Bella and Catherine’s vision was to cultivate green leaders for the next generation by changing the mindsets of the youth to create leaders for the future who are eco-conscious and aware of how their consumer habits and lifestyles impact on the environment.
Their dedication to climate change, greening issues and the empowerment of the youth within the environmental sector has seen these young entrepreneurs impacting both on the green industry, creating sustainable change and leaving their green footprints across SA, Africa and the globe.
A team effort
On receiving the award, eco-preneur and humanitarian, Constantinides said, “It’s a collaborative effort. We have been able to achieve our objectives because of an amazing team and incredible partners.
“This award is dedicated to all who have believed in our dreams and the green future I believe we can all share in as well as the amazing, diverse group of young people we have the privilege to work with.”
It’s all about passion
Generation Earth Co-Founder and UNEP Youth Ambassador, Ella Bella, was on hand at the prestigious awards ceremony, ” We all live, breathe, eat and dream our passion to develop and grow not only those around us but the communities in which we serve.”
Addressing the climate change
Catherine and Ella Bella are standing up and making a difference on the climate crisis; they’re leading by example, speaking to their communities about how climate change affects their daily lives – and what ordinary citizens can do to contribute to climate change, adaptation measures and mitigation.
They appear in the media, activate social networks, and inspiring people everywhere to join the fight against the defining issue of our time.
