An alumnus of the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) has been selected as a representative or AMBAssador for a global initiative of the UK-based Association of MBAs (AMBA) to promote ethical and innovative business leadership.
USB alumnus Gretchen Arangies, an HR manager at StellenboschUniversity, participated in the leadership programme which was launched at AMBA’s first Global Leadership Conference held in theUK from 25 to 26 February 2012.
Professor John Powell, director of the University of Stellenbosch Business School, says that the USB is proud to have one of its alumni selected as a representative of such a prestigious global initiative because the AMBA Global AMBAssadors represent the pinnacle of business education globally.
“The Global AMBAssadors Programme is a service offered by AMBA to all accredited business schools to help improve their engagement with alumni, MBA seekers and employers,” Powell says. The USB is the first business school inAfricato have received AMBA-accreditation.
Building global networks
The Global AMBAssadors Programme aims to build worldwide networks among the MBA community and employers to promote ethical and innovative leadership.
According to AMBA CEO Sharon Bamford, the conference provided AMBAssadors with a platform to discuss sustainability and geopolitical issues.
South Africa, and specifically the USB, has been chosen as host for AMBA’s 2013 Global Leadership Conference.
