In dedication of 21 years since Nelson Mandela walked out of Robben Island a free man, FNB Premier Banking is honouring Madiba and 21 other ‘premier’ South African icons at an exclusive event that will take place at the Killarney Country Club on 21 June 2011.
The significance of the venue is that it was the setting of Mandela’s first vote as a free man.
Even though Mandela himself will not be able to attend, clients, together with 21 other South African icons, will be able to pay tribute to this great man.
While the event is designed to reward FNB Premier clients, four places have been reserved for South Africans who want to pay tribute to Mandela. All you have to do is SMS your tribute 43124. The top four tributes will be chosen, and the contributors and their partners will be able to attend the event.
Their tribute will also be included in the commemorative artwork that has been commissioned especially for this initiative and is being presented to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
FNB is appealing to contributors to dig deep in their hearts and explain how Mandela and the past 21 years have impacted their lives and those closest to them. “We are looking for the sentiments that form the core of this inspirational country. We are looking for those emotions that Mandela elicits in us and that make us proudly South African,” says Lezanne Human, chief executive officer of Premier Banking from FNB.

The Premier First Experience is FNB’s approach to acknowledging the importance of its clients. Launched in 2010, the programme aims to give clients an opportunity to experience a ‘premier lifestyle’ through incredible experiences they would not otherwise be exposed to.
