According to the Minister of Transport’s office, pedestrians account for nearly 40% of road fatalities annually on South Africa’s roads. Many of these can be prevented.
In a bid to raise awareness of the issue, Eqstra Fleet Management and Logistics, in support of the United Nations Decade of Action and Nelson Mandela Day, is hosting a golf day to raise funds for intensive awareness, education and infrastructure programmes for both drivers and pedestrians. Called Think Pedestrian, the initiative is championed by the Department of Transport and will be hosted on 13 August 2012.
