“We need agility and urgency in implementation” – Pravin Gordhan, Minister of Finance
This is one of the pressing topics to be discussed at Vision2030 Summit, taking place on 8 – 9 June 2016, at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. Thought-provoking questions, statements and perceptions to be unpacked include:
- Is business doing enough to promote the NDP or is this being left up to government?
- What can business do to help promote the various pillars of the NDP?
- What form should the collaboration between the government and businesses take? And who should drive it?
Some of the heavyweights in business and government who will be part of the keynote and opening session include: Jeff Radebe, Minister in the Presidency; Malusi Gigaba, Minister of Home Affairs; Parks Tau, Executive Mayor of City of Johannesburg; Mpumi Nhlapo, Head of Demand Management, T-Systems; Mathews Phosa, politician and attorney, Tom Moyane, Commissioner, SARS; Kingsley Makhubela, CEO, Brand South Africa; and Sabine Dall’Omo, CEO, Siemens South Africa.
“All those who gather at the conference must leave with the sense of wanting more. We will share with delegates the work that has been done in government, how government is implementing the plan and how the new plan and national planning commission proposes to deal with issues of implementation,” Tshediso Matona, Head of Planning and Acting Director-General in Department of Monitoring and Evaluation.
“We require leadership across society, we require partnership with everybody, because attending Vision2030 is everyone’s responsibility. We will do our best as government to accelerate the creation of this necessary and conducive environment but all the sectors, al the stakeholders have to play their part,” Jeff Radebe, Minister in the Presidency.
