“When I went to flight school to do my pilot training, I noticed in my first lecture, a 16-year-old boy who had not yet even passed matric doing his pilot training. He did so well and he got his pilot’s license and this made me realise that we can start teaching kids in this field of expertise from a young age,” explains Joe Phalwane.

To create opportunities for kids and to inspire them to be passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, Phalwane launched Aerobuddies. His main goal is to introduce youngsters to STEM with aeronautics and aviation, using flight simulation, aeromodelling, rocketry, robotics, UAV technology (drones) and intro flights.
