It is said that behind every successful man is a woman. But is seems like behind every successful woman there is also a woman, in this case, four of them!
Annelise de Jager has just been announced as the country winner in the SME section of CEOs competition for‘Africa’s most Influential Woman in Business and Government’ at a prestigious event at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.
Recognising the most influential women
The awards received 9 000 entries from 34 Africa countries. MIW event has developed in stature over the past few years, to become the foremost event of its kind in the country and a notable part of the South African business calendar allowing for the recognitions and celebration of women. The MIW award recognises women in various sectors who are making a positive impact within their organisation, sector and country.
Annelise received this award for her highly successful NGO Empowerment Programme – a 12-month coaching and mentoring program for welfare organisations – as well as the exciting National fundraising campaign ‘Tekkie Tax’.
“My philosophy is that a welfare organisation should be run like a business. These skills are often missing in a NGO and bringing it to them via my NGO Empowering program ensures accountability and good governance,” says Annelise.
Tekkie Tax that paid off
De Jager has been involved in the non-profit sector for nearly 30 years and this award is proof of the outstanding service that she and her team at Charity Support Services, are rendering.
The first Tekkie Tax campaign took place in 2013 and exceeded all expectations by raising R2.4 million. At the moment, the 2014 campaign shows a 90% growth from 2013 and this proves that National Tekkie Tax Day now has a permanent place on the SA calendar.
“This is the one national fundraising campaign where you can not only choose who you want to support but you know without a shadow of doubt that your full donation will reach the beneficiary intended for” says Hilda Lunderstedt, the Tekkie Tax Ambassador for Children.
Behind the success of Annelise are not only a team of 10 women as staff members but also her four Tekkie Tax Ambassadors: Helene Potgieter (Animal Ambassador), Corinne Turchetti (Basic Family Care Ambassador), Hilda Lunderstedt (Children Ambassador) and Michelene Toms (Disability Ambassador).
August is woman’s month in SA and we salute the ability of women all around us to change the world, one person at a time.
