A bunch of entrepreneurial South African film makers are attempting to break a world record by making a feature film in 11 days from script to screen.
The official world record of 11 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes from script to screening is currently held in India. Jozi-based production houses Team Best, Localala and Ghost Sheep plan to surpass this record.
On 1 May 2013, a team of young, homegrown industry professionals met to begin scripting a brand new South African feature film. Eleven days later, this film – Shotgun Garfunkel – will premier at the Bioscope in Maboneng and the official world record will belong in Joziwood.
According to co-producers – Bryan van Niekerk and Asher Stoltz, “The team’s mission is to not only to break the world record, but also to make an awesome film. Come 11 May, we are going to present a minimum of 75-minutes of gripping, blockbuster.”
