Entrepreneurial reality TV showThe Big Break Legacyreturns to SABC2 on Saturday, 17 August. Season 2’s winner will walk away with a R5-million investment into their business.
The highly-anticipated show was originally scheduled to be broadcast from 4 May. However, the SABC and the organisers have moved transmission to give the contestants an opportunity to wrap up their current affairs and focus on this new journey in their lives.
Says SABC2’s publicity manager, Zandile Nkonyeni: “The show will now be broadcast from August to November, with the winner being revealed as we build up to the festive season.”
The Big Break Legacy aims to start a global revolution of entrepreneurs that build new enterprises which are innovative, exciting, sustainable and, most importantly, contribute meaningfully towards the social development of communities.
Each week, the show’s challenges test entrepreneurs for character strength, creativity, aptitude and commercial savvy in addressing real life business challenges under time and resource constraints.
This year’s competitors are:
- Adele Lourens from the Western Cape – green launderette
- Charmaine Kleynhans from the Eastern Cape – a kettle that boils water without electricity, gas or making a fire
- Christiaan (Kris) Muller from the Western Cape – biometric security systems
- Ifthakaar Shaik from Johannesburg – furniture made from recyclable material
- Jared Pillai from Pretoria – educational products for babies and young children
- Kelebogile Seleka from the Northern Cape – vending machines for sanitary pads in schools
- Ntokozo Biyela from Kwa Zulu Natal – mobile unit manufacturer
- Sanele Makinane from North West – information communications technology systems
- Teboho Mafodi from Gauteng – alternative green building material for homes in rural areas
- Thati Mashao from Limpopo – heavy duty earth moving equipment and plant hire
- Tsepiso Makhubedu from Mpumalanga – publishing entrepreneurial books for children
- Zama Sibinda from the Free State – laser projection advertising
