Only the toughest survive the Comrades marathon, with proper preparation and teamwork key to success. On Sunday, South Africa’s Claude Moshiywa on Sunday won the 88th Comrades Marathon.
Conditions were tough – a blustery wind and high temperatures took their toll on the field, especially in the latter half of the race.
Moshiywa handled these conditions best to complete the race in five hours 32 seconds.
Explaining the secret behind his success, he said, “I deserve this win because I have been training very hard. My manager Nick has been encouraging me throughout the race and it worked.”
