Some of South Africa’s Brightest Young Minds (BYM) attended the 2013 BYM Summit, held on 23-28 July at T-Systems in Midrand.
The organisation identifies the brightest and most passionate young people in the country, equips them as responsible leaders with an innovative mind-set and mobilises them to be change agents by creating opportunities that will have a positive impact on society.
‘Make Shift Futures’, the theme of this year’s summit, was born from the understanding of the status quo and the urgent need for the youth to redefine their own futures.
According to BYM talent manager, Anthea Hartzenberg, “BYM connects current and future leaders through dynamic and innovative platforms.”
In order to inspire and equip delegates, BYM hosted a range of speakers, including:
- Michael Jordaan
- Ahmed Kathrada
- Mardia van der Walt-Korsten
- Dr Nkosana Moyo
- Sandeep Desai
- Allon Raiz
- Lillian Barnard
- Greg Marinovicz
- Stan Du Plessis
- Paul Galatis.
The current CEO of BYM, Adrian Cox, had this to say about the summit: “We hope that by bringing together some of South Africa’s most talented young leaders, we can develop the tools and inspiration needed to continue improving and building on the successes of South Africa”.
