Burger King is going into the hot dog business. The company ran a pilot programme last year, during which it sold hot dogs in five US cities: Salt Lake City, Memphis, Baltimore, Detroit, and Kansas City.
That programme must have been a success, since the company is now rolling the programme out across the whole of the Unites States.
Burger King calls its hot dogs Grilled Dogs, and offers two versions: A standard one with relish, chopped onions, ketchup; and a chilli cheese dog. More options are apparently in the pipeline, and the company is also looking at ways to make its hot dogs very customisable.
According to the company, there are ‘200 000’ ways to order a whopper, and it wants the hot dog to be the same.
No word yet on whether Burger King South Africa will also be adding hot dogs to the menu soon.
