Graphit have been appointed as official Network Facilitators for the Department of Trade and Industry’s Black Business Supplier Development Program (BBSDP)
Graphit started trading in 2000 as a graphic design business. They specialized in the signage market erecting signage as subcontractors for Design Orientated Team. Projects included the erection of canopies and signage at Shell and Caltex garages nationwide and applying the Castle brand to liquor outlets in Gauteng for SAB. We also did the physical brand changeover of the Perm Building Society to Old Mutual Bank.
Fund Overview
The Black Business Supplier Development Programme (BBSDP) is a cost-sharing grant offered to black-owned small enterprises, to assist them in improving their competitiveness and sustainability, in order for them to become integrated into the mainstream economy and create employment. The BBSDP offers a grant to a maximum of R1 million (R800 000 is ring-fenced for tools, machinery and equipment) per eligible enterprise, to improve principles of corporate governance, management, marketing, productivity and use of modern technology.
Applicant criteria:
- Fifty-one percent (51%) black majority shareholding;
- R500 000 to R35 million turnover per year;
- One (1) year in operation and trading as a business;
- Fify percent (50%) management positions held by black people (historically disadvantaged individuals);
- Enterprises formally registered for VAT;
- Eligible to obtain funding to a maximum of R1 million for the activities offered under the BBSDP (NB: R800 000 is ring-fenced for tools, equipment and machinery); and
- Cost-sharing ratio of 50:50 for business development services and 35:65 for tools, equipment and machinery.
