Fund overview
It is a targeted incentive, aimed at supporting the development of tourism enterprises, thereby stimulating job creation and encouraging the geographic spread of tourism investment. The TSP is targeted at both local- and foreign-owned entities and offers a cash grant of up to 30% towards qualifying investment costs in furniture, equipment, commercial vehicles, land and buildings required for:
- establishing a new tourism facility; and
- expanding an existing tourism facility.
Applicant criteria:
Investment projects of R5 million and below must:
- Demonstrate financial commitment to the planned investment project;
- Have a viable business plan;
- Provide business plan information, identifying the customers, competitors, competitive advantage, technology, marketing and management;
- Be financially viable, subject to the projections being realistic and reasonable; and
- Substantiate the need for financial grant assistance and indicate how the TSP grant will be used to improve the financial viability of the planned project.
All investment projects above R5 million must:
- Meet the criteria for small investment projects (≤ R5m), as stated above; and
- Demonstrate how the TSP grant is necessary for the project to proceed.
