I have a great idea for a business that I’d like to start, but I have no start-up funds and am reluctant to apply for a bank loan if I can possibly avoid it. How can I get my new enterprise up and running for the least amount of money?
There are a number of ways that you can fund your start-up without getting a loan from the bank, also known as bootstrapping. These include continuing to work (and earn a salary) while you get your new business off the ground, or even getting the help of people (often friends and family) who are prepared to work for nothing in exchange for shares in the business.
