On 21 April 2012, Wits Business School will be hosting, for the first time in its history, a WBS Business Clinic (free of charge), targeted to staff and individuals from the public and community who would normally be unable to afford costs of tuition and programme fees at WBS.
The WBS ‘Business Clinic’ Concept simply refers to a structured day of lectures or talks, where the school’s academic staff, in the spirit of service, over the course of a single day, will share their business knowledge, skills and acumen pro bono.
Service project outcomes
The WBS academic staff aims for participants to walk away with a basic understanding of concepts and practice associated with core business: marketing, strategy, financial accounting, IT, business plans, interviewing and personal branding. Essentially they want to impart basic knowledge in core areas, with a view to achieving knowledge acquisition and skills’ development.
Target audience
The target audience for the event is specifically someone who is not able to afford WBS programmes, and hence economically poorer. It is someone who may be formally under-employed or unemployed. The target participant is someone who could benefit from basic business knowledge and skills – perhaps to move into a new or different job or position in their existing work, thus moving up the income ladder and improving economic welfare; or, someone who is employed and needs further knowledge of concepts.
The Business Clinic is free for participants. Academic staff will provide their lectures at no charge.
Event Details
The clinic will be hosted at the DG Auditorium from 08h00 – 16h00 on Saturday, 21 April. Contact Krish Sigamoney on Krishnavi.Sigamoney@wits.ac.za to RSVP or for more information.
