Knowing how people actually behave in the marketplace, as opposed to how they should or would perform if they were completely rational, could make a difference to the way your business operates.
The Discovery Invest Leadership Summit 2011, being held at the Sandton Convention Centre on September 21, will give attendees the opportunity to hear from Dan Ariely, a New York Bestselling author and Professor of Psychology and Behavioural Economics. Ariely will be sharing his insights and thoughts on human behavior.
Ariely holds appointments at the Fuqua school of Business, the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience, the School of Medicine, and the Department of Economics. He is the founding member of the Centre for Advanced Hindsight which aims to have great insights into large and diverse sets of research projects. Ariely’s research has been published in leading psychology, economics and business journals.
Using simple experiments, he studies how people actually behave in the marketplace, as opposed to how they should or would perform if they were completely rational.
Ariely earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tel Aviv University, his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Cognitive Psychology from the University of North Carolina and his Doctorate in Business Administration from Duke University.
Ariely is the author of two New York Times bestsellers on behavioural economics – Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions and The Upside of Irrationality: The Unexpected Ways We Defy Logic at Work and at Home.
