Sandiso Ncube & Tshidiso Radinne, serial entrepreneurs, will be hosting the conversation: I slept in my car for entrepreneurial reasons; a 67 minute conversation about entrepreneurial failure, on Saturday the 18th of July 2015, at 09:00am ending at 11:00am. At the JoziHub, in Milpark, Johannesburg.
Why entrepreneurship is a drug addiction
The event is a promotional launch for two books. The first, written by Sandiso Ncube, titled Before you start a business; a 10 minute guide to lessons entrepreneurs learn the hard way & the second book, co-authored with, business partner Tshidiso Radinne, and currently in development, is titled: I slept in my car for entrepreneurial reasons: Why entrepreneurship is like drug addiction. The first title will be officially launched on the day, with the first 1000 special edition Mandela day copies printed.
This discussion is directed toward unpacking, demystifying & de-stigmatising entrepreneurial failure to kick start a culture where:
Society appreciates the value of failed entrepreneurs and seeks ways to re-engage them productively in the economy:
- Entrepreneurs habitually seek to distill lessons from failures as a first response to their failures.
- Entrepreneurs realise the depth & breadth of the skills that they acquire from building businesses
- Entrepreneurs realise the value of the lessons and skills they acquire
- Entrepreneurs apply these lessons and skills to everyday life and their future endeavours.
A tribute to Mandela Day
Just like the young people of yester-year who had people like Nelson Mandela, the current generation of South Africa’s young people will need leaders going into the future, but a different set of leaders. For these young people, entrepreneurship, is the new frontier; it represents the economic freedom that was promised by our new democracy.
We are witnessing a “new, all inclusive, non-racial struggle” emerge and young people have the once in a life time opportunity to get right in front of it and help bring the leaders of this “new struggle” to the fore. What better day to begin this change than on Mandela Day.
This conversation will be the step that firmly establishes its participants as part of a select few visionaries that are working to drive a cultural change that is both meaningful & impactful.
We cannot change and impact culture individually, but individually, we can take the single step needed to start that change.
