Lesson 4.
Choose the right team
I had the experience of large volume catering, having directed the catering contract for the Royal Navy out of Portsmouth for three years.
This, coupled with working at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and then living in China to run the Asian Games in 2010, prepared me for London 2012. The biggest lesson I had learnt over that time was that you have to embrace the team, without question, learn patience and work harder than you have ever worked before.
The lesson: Picking the best performing managers from previous games helped build the foundation of a great team.
